Bloggers Unite-Acts of Kindness

Today I am volunteering at the Senior Center here in my hometown. There are many patients here who do not have family members who come and visit the during the holidays. I think it is important to remember our elderly. So many have overcome so many strifes in their life.

My mother is not in my life this Christmas. I don't have many family members left so I think if I can give some time to make a family happy,it is well worth it.

This is a picture of last years Christmas event.

UPDATE

I spent the day at the Senior Citizen Center with a nice lady named, "Gladys." I never realized how many people are alone during the holidays. I went shopping for her and we played cards. I feel that people don't need one day to do and ACT OF KINDNESS. Everyday should be the opportunity to do something nice for anyone. This could be as simple as a kind word. Gladys got something out of the visit but I think I got so much more. I found out that I enjoy the feeling of doing something for someone.

I am going STRETCH my ACTS OF KINDNESS out for the rest of the week. I volunteered for the lunch serve program at the center for this week. Time is the greatest gift we an give. Even if you can't physically go somewhere or donate money. Just a SMILE at a passing stranger can be an ACT OF KINDESS.

I THINK WE ALL CAN DO THAT..

There was a plea on the radio this morning for volunteers to come and help with some homeless group over Christmas.

I am tempted but I'm desperate for some time off to relax..

Maybe in future I will do something like this, when I have a bit more time to myself..

Lady banana, It was a rewarding day for me. The lady I visited, Gladys, was so nice. I shopped for her and we played some cards. nothing much.

However if you don't have the time for that, I feel an "act of kindness," doesn't have to be on a great magnitude. It can be as much as saying a kind word to someone. I read your blog and your whole personality is and ACT OF KINDNESS.

You always say such nice things to me and everyone else.

It doesn't jus take one day

I really liked what you did spending time at a Senior Citizen Center. I know how lonely they can get there. Meeting someone new is always a pleasure and joy for them. I used to do that a number of times when I was still living in the Philippines. I guess I should also revive it where I am now... Thanks for sharing. :-)

I completely agree with you. If only more people would try and give a little of themselves, they'd likely find they'd do it more often because it makes the person helping feel as wonderful as the one they're giving the help to!

I think it's great that you're going to continue the momentum. What a wonderful thing you are doing; what a good example for others. I think I will consciously do the same.
